When you can't think of any new story ideas....

....just copy someone else's. Right?

Er, no. Read this great article by Sally Quilford in response to Jane Smith's Anti-Plagiarism Day to see why.

Sorry I am not writing my own full response to this brilliant initiative, but Sally's done it far better than I ever could. She's also included links to lots of other bloggers who've written about plagiarism today. Definitely worth spending an hour or two reading them, I should think.

Yup, read a lot of the related posts - quite worrying, isn't it?
It's beyond comprehension, really, how an author could gain any satisfaction of passing off something that isn't the author's own.

It's much easier to steal someone else's idea than come up with one of your own.

Always subscribed to the notion that the more ideas you use up/pass on they are soon replaced by better and more plentiful ones. Never understood copying (or the kids who hid their answers behind their arms at school:)
