Bad news, folks - People's Friend will no longer be sending out contributor copies. They've put this decision down to the difficult economic climate.
Regular contributors can get a discounted subscription rate; also PF will email a PDF copy of your piece as it will appear in the magazine, if you ask for it. But no more posted free copies.
With thanks to Elizabeth for forwarding on this piece of news.

Oh, what a shame. It was a lovely thing to do, but I did wonder how long they'd be able to keep that up.
They are one of the last few who do this, so it's no surprise really. But, I'm sure the PDF version will be just as useful. (I always scan my published pieces into PDF format anyway!)
As someone struggling to get a story accepted, it seems to me a small sacrifice if it helps to keep them going.
I recently had an article in My Weekly and all I got was the PDF version so it must be something that DC Thomson are rolling out. But as has already been said, it is a small price to pay if it helps to keep them afloat.
they never publsh anything anyways. My friends have sent off 7original differnet stories each they'd written but PF kept giving the same letter of "storyline too weak" though the stories were checked by a professional service as very good.
