It would be even nicer if Woman still published short stories.

I agree with Jacula about short stories in Woman. I loved writing for them.

It says a 'full synopsis' of a 100 words. Does this a full breakdown of the plot, spoiling surprises etc? Or just a fleshed out write up in terms of world/characters/themes but no plot spoilers? No indication on guidelines, so any advice appreciated.

Sorry that was 1000, not a hundred!

A synopsis should cover the entire novel, including the end, so I would assume that is what they mean by 'full synopsis'. It is not a tool to hook the reader - it is a selling tool to prove to an editor that there's enough story for a full novel and that it has a good ending.

Thank you but I am still not clear. A summary of the whole plot? I imagine the synopsis can not be too woolly or 'teaser-like' for this, as you say. I have a short 300 word synopsis at present, that doesn't give away the ending. I suppose for this competition (1,000 words) that's wrong and I need the full story in there, ending and all?

Just done the first draft of my 1,000 full synopsis where all is divulged, plot wise. It's quite a lot of words to write, so I figured it's the place to describe what happens. However, I've also contacted Accent and will let you know if I find out anything useful. Love the blog and all the useful info on it.
