The People's Friend Fiction (and other) guidelines.

The People's Friend have just updated their guidelines. You can find them all here.

Hope you'll forgive me for illustrating this post with a logo from a rejection letter. There aren't any acceptance letters with my name on, nor copies of the magazine with one of my stories in. I'm just not on their wavelength. Ah well, can't win 'em all!

    Thanks for these... reminding me to look over the guidelines once more! I'm more often published by PF than anywhere else. A (kindly) refusal is (usually) on the grounds of a story needing more 'emotional depth'... which is fine, when you can figure out some way of adding the right amount of that magical ingredient :-)

    Thanks for info, Patsy. It took a lot of submissions from me before I finally had an acceptance from PF. I've had quite a bit of success with them this year, though, which cheers me greatly! I'll offer the same advice as Sue and Linda...Keep on trying. All good wishes Kate Hogan

    For some reason I've always found the People's Friend the easiest to write for. It's worth persevering as the editors are lovely to work with.

    I'm not too worried about not selling to PF - each magazine has a slightly different style and it's not surprising that each author will do better with some than others. I will still try now and again though, if I have something I think is suitable.

    Thanks so much , Patsy, for keeping us up to date with the various magazine's guidelines. Do you know if "The People's Friend" will accept submissions that have been published elsewhere, i.e. "Second British Serial Rights"?
