- Hi, Everyone.
I submitted a feature article to "The People's Friend" back in the first week of June.
I still haven't heard from them and was wondering if anyone had any idea how long they generally take.
This isn't a market I write for so I don't have a clue. Can anyone else help?
I've just had one article published. They did take a long time to reply - that's because they never know far in advance if they'll use it or not; articles get fitted in when there is space. It may be that they won't reply if they're not going to use it, I don't know, but you could get good news months after submission. Alex Corlett is the Features Ed; it wouldn't do any harm to drop an email.
ReplyDeleteI've had articles accepted 15 months after submission, although that was a Christmas theme and it probably missed inclusion the previous year. But as Kate says, it can take a while for a decision to be made.
ReplyDeleteI've never sent an article to PF but with short stories I have found that a quick reply tends to mean a rejection whereas the longer you wait the more likely it is to mean a sale. Good luck, Jason.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone! What a supportive bunch you are!
ReplyDeleteI will do as Kate suggests and drop a brief querying email to the Features Ed. i just didn't want to nag!
Thanks again, folks!
Glad you got your answer, Jason. Thanks to everyone who helped.
ReplyDeleteJust an update in case anyone else finds themselves in a similar position. I received a reply today to the effect that my copy had arrived safely and was with the Features Team. 15 weeks so far. Will update when I get a further response so people have a benchmark 😃
ReplyDeleteThanks again x
Thanks, Jason - yes please do let us know the outcome.
