It's also your chance to share success (or otherwise) ask questions*, report any womag news, tips, advice you may have, or make womag related comments or observations. (If you have news or a question relating to a particular magazine, it's also fine to add it as a comment to the latest post for that magazine.) *If you can answer these, please do. How has your writing year been? Are you planning any changes for 2019?
Lovely pic, Patsy. My question is does anyone keep their eyes open for new markets, or do ppl prefer to stick with the magazines they love? I have magazines that I love reading, and like to choose to submit to them first. But I did look round the newsagent this morning out of interest. Disappointing that very few other magazines seem to like to include fiction. Makes one feel grateful for the mags that do still produce fiction.
Yes I'm always on the look out for new markets, Carrie. But sadly, most online literary projects and similar mags are non- paying. Stories that don't fit the womag mould are often suitable for competitions. Keep at it!
Hi there. Managed to post a review for "Are We Nearly famous!'. Also, has anyone been paid by TAB for their stories, printed in the Christmas edition? I haven't been paid yet. Is it early days? Good wishes. Kate Hogan.
@ Carrie – Yes, I look for new markets all the time – both for my own benefit and to share on here. Whenever I see, or hear about, a new magazine or a change to an existing one, I check to see if there are any chances to get fiction published.
@ Sharon – Competitions are a good option for placing short stories (and other writing), and luckily there's no shortage of those.
@ Kate – thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to read the free book and leave a review (as will my co-authors).
TAB took a Christmassy story of mine,which hasn't yet been paid for, but I don't think it went in the Fction Feast.
It's my first year of womag writing and I've had one story and one poem accepted. I'm very excited, but it's not enough to give up the day job! I'm encouraged to keep on submitting though. New girl on the block.
@ New girl – Congratulations! It is exciting to have our work published. That's especially so with the first ones of course, but even when we've been doing it for a while it's still a good feeling.
@ Niddy and New Girl – If/when they don't get enough suitable submissions from existing writers, they'll open up to new writers. That probably will happen eventually as writers switch to other things or stop writing altogether, but it probably won't be any time soon.

I wish TAB and other mags that are closed to new authors would open up sometimes to new subs. Do you ever think this will happen?
