  2. Thanks Patsy.
And the same to you. Some nice new year's news for me. I was runner up in this month's Irish Country Magazine story competition, which I only heard about through this lovely blog. Thank you!

  3. Happy new year to all and well done to ruth. I entered the Irish country comp for November and I book marked the comp page but the page wasn't updated with their next comp, even though I refreshed the page loads of times. I don't know where I can find the info about their themed monthly comps. Is it worth following them on FB?

    1. Thanks, Sharon. Yes, I also saw they hadn't updated the competition details, and their website still has the November info on it. I guess you could email cmurrihy@irishcountrymagazine.ie to enquire? I follow them on FB, but there are no details there either.

  8. A very Happy New Year to one & all, may it be a productive & fulfilling one for all us writers. Congratulations & well done Ruth I'm delighted to hear someone from this blog did so well (It was me who spotted it initially & I was hoping I wasn't wasting peoples time mentioning it).

    1. Hi Sheelagh, Thanks so much for promoting the competition. Not a waste of time at all. The runner up 'prize' was a nice one - publication on their website. I have friends (and a partner) who don't seem very interested in women's mags you have to buy... but clicking on a website is easy! My lovely partner (of 25 years!) has finally read something I've written, and even said he liked it. And a lovely new year surprise this morning... a friend in Ireland who I'd lost touch with emailed me to ask if I'd written the story. Ruth

  9. I've got in touch with Irish country mag and they say they are waiting to see if their comp will return in 2025.
That was why the comp web page hadn't been updated.
It was good to receive a prompt reply, especially so early in the new year.
Many thanks for passing the email address on!

  10. Happy New Year to everyone. Everything has been very quiet for me, but then I heard I was on the short list for the Mani Lit Short Story competition. I first hear about it on here and just being on the short list really cheered me up, so thank you to you and Alyson for letting us know about it.
