Here's the contents page from November's Woman's Weekly Fiction Special.
Well done to all my issue buddies!
As you may have noticed, some things have vanished off this blog, such as blog lists and guideline links. It's not my fault - honest! I'm working on putting back anything that's useful.
What IS useful?

Blogger seems to be getting more and more unreliable. Hopefully they will sort it out soon!
Well done for your efforts, Patsy. Good wishes Kate Hogan
Well done on your story and thank you for providing such useful info. Can I ask, do you normally receive a postal acknowledgement from woman's weekly to say that a story has been received? I'm worried that a story I posted may not have been delivered to them.
@ Natasha - I don't think it's usual for them to acknowledge postal submissions, other than by acceptance or rejection. How long ago did you submit?
Congrats on your stories Patsy. I find this blog so useful, so anything to do with improvement, and others achievements help spur me on. Word counts and updated submission guidelines really useful :)
I was over the moon to be published in Ireland's Own last month so am hoping further success awaits! Anyone who is interested in writing should keep going!
PS If you enclose a SAE postcard to Woman's Weekly asking for acknowledgement, they will let you know it has arrived safely :)
Hi Patsy & Carrie, thank you for your replies! It's been about 7/8 weeks so maybe it's a bit early to expect a response. I did send an SAE but didn't actually ask for acknowledgement so maybe they won't give me one after all. Fingers crossed it has arrived safely, it's the first time I have sent a story to a magazine so I'm feeling a bit jittery!
Thank you again Patsy for all the effort you have put in to give us this info and congrats Carrie on your published story! :)
If you want an acknowledgement I think you might need two SAEs - one for that and one for the reply. If you didn't ask for an acknowledgement then they'll probably keep the SAE for their response. (Once you have one story accepted everything can be done by email and you'll get acknowledgements that way)
Reply times vary, but 12 weeks isn't unusual. I'd wait at least that long before getting concerned or querying,
Thanks Patsy, I'll remember that for the next one. Wish me luck! :)
Thank you Natasha, and good luck with your first! :)
Update - it wasn't accepted! :( Not sure if it was too long for my first as it was 2300 words! What's the normal thing to do at this stage, would you try sending it to another magazine or forget this one altogether and try sending another?
I'd read through it again and check you're still happy with it. If you are and feel it's suitable for another magazine then send it back out.
