Your Go

Each month I'll be making a posting just like this one, so blog readers can ask any questions*, share any womag news, tips, advice they may have, or make womag related comments or observations.

*If you can answer these, please do!

Of course your comments are welcome on all the other posts too. It's these responses which let me know which kind of posts are of interest and value and therefore worth continuing with.

Btw, the libraries poll is still open.

Hello Patsy
What is the word count required for Allas (Sweden) magazine. I've looked at the guidelines and they seem to be long stories. What lengths have you submitted?
Many thanks
Alyson

Hi Alyson,

I've had success with 1.000 words and 1,500 words.

Hi Patsy, are there any good writing competitions that you currently know of? Thanks Carrie

Hi. Can anyone please help me with the correct way to enter the ISSN code onto the ALCS website? I loaded all my stories on there a couple of months ago and they've all just come back rejected due to an incorrect ISSN.
The ISSN as it reads on Take a Break Fiction Feast is - 9 771463 536108 10 and I entered onto the ALCS website as 1463536X. I did use the guidelines on the Womag blog link to work out how to decipher the ISSN but I've obviously got it wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you xx

@ Carrie - I regularly post details of free to enter writing competitions on my other blog - http://patsy-collins.blogspot.co.uk

@ Lisa - When you select 'articles' on ALCS you have the option to 'add article' or 'search publication'. If you select the latter and time in the publication name, you'll get one or more ISSNs. Just select the one which most closely matches the bar code on the magazine. (Enter it without spaces.)
