I jot down ideas in a notebook but type the actual story straight onto the computer as I seem to 'think' better! Plus I suffer with arthritis so writing isn't easy.
Recent success with another story accepted for The Weekly News which I'm so chuffed about :)
@ Carrie – well done on the TWN acceptance.
I write directly onto the laptop whenever possible – at least partly because my writing is so bad I struggle to read it unless I can remember most of it. I will use a notebook if I don't have the laptop with me.
Planning with nice thick pencil for drawing spidergrams and writing down any random notes. Usually chaotic, but makes sense to me! Then type it all out numerous times until it all makes sense.
And... I sold a story on the very last day of 2018 :-)
Straight onto the computer for me as I can move text around as much as I like. I may write better if I used longhand, but it's far easier to go straight onto the computer for me.

I've just reviewed last year's subs, successes and failures etc and realised I'm not sending out rejected stories again anything like as often as I thought. It's important to have a system for ensuring this. I've just started using Trello (trello.com) to keep track of individual stories rather than what I've submitted overall
I use a notebook for ideas and maybe bits of dialogue or characters but usually write directly onto a laptop. This year after a gap of 12 months with hardly any subs have started to send stories out again.

@ Penny, I very much like the idea of the thick pencil and chaos, which you gradually convert into something which makes sense to others.
@ Kate – Making things esier for myself is the reason I write straight on to the computer.
@ Bubble – a system for keeping track of your stories is very important. I use a spreadsheet for that, but have heard that Trello is goo. In fact I'm sure there's a post on this blog about it.
@ Niddy. I do have notebooks for when inspiration strikes and I can't use the laptop, but mainly just because I like notebooks! Glad you have you writing mojo back.
