From Story Idea to Reader - 2nd edition

Rosemary J. Kind and I have updated From Story Idea to Reader. It's still got everything which earned it review comments such as 'a great resource' 'very inspirational' and 'excellent book packed full of useful information'. Topics covered include getting started as a writer, finding ideas, writing for competitions, plotting, titles, blurbs, social media, feedback, editing and proofreading etc etc* but now there's more.

We've added sections on creating audio books, dealing with gender and creating covers.
The sections on womag writing, self- publishing and the business side of writing have all been updated, as there have been a lot of changes recently.

The second edition is available as a paperback or ebook here, or can be read for free through kindle unlimited. The audio version hasn't been updated, but if you order that you'll also get a pdf of the new version, so won't miss out.

*See Amazon's 'look inside' feature for a full list of topics covered.

Thanks Patsy, will look into it (so to speak!). Not doing a huge amount of writing or reading at the moment but perhaps that's just the kick start I need

Sounds very good. It sounds like just what I need.

Sounds like a great resource, indeed, and I'm sure a lot of hard work went into updating it. Very best wishes with this new version.

@ Sheelagh – Sometimes reading about writing is a distraction and sometimes it's motivating. We've included some exercises to helpfully remind people to write and not just read!

@ Marian – Well I think it's good and that everyone needs a copy, but I admit I could be biased.

@ Eirin – There was work involved. Luckily for me all the really tricky and technical side of things was handled by Rosemary.

Quick question to all. I've been trying to load the Secret Attic website, and it's refusing to load. I haven't had this problem before. Is it me, or is anybody else having the same difficulties? Thanks.

That looks like a great book. Especially for those starting out.
I wrote a humorous piece for the June WEP prompt.
And I have my favorite book world narrowed down for the IWSG July prompt.
"One benefit of summer was that each day we had more light to read by."- Jeannette Walls, The Glass Castle
Over at Operation Awesome, our Pass or Pages query contest opens Monday with July's family saga genre. Know any writers who might want to enter?

Books sounds great, Patsy. Have ordered myself a copy!

Secret Attic won't open for me either at the moment, New Girl on the Block...

Secret Attic has closed. I know the organizer was loathe to do it but had no option for personal reasons. It was a great series of competitions and I am already missing it :(
I often use my copy of From Story Idea... invaluable resource :)

Thanks, Marguerite. What a shame about Secret Attic. I really liked that website.
