Gone adventuring

We're currently adventuring in the mobile writing retreat (campervan) so apologies if blog posts are even more sketchy and cobbled together than usual! There's also a strong possibility of LOADS of travel photos, but I'm not apologising for that.

Free entry writing competitions

Irish Country Magazine run a monthly themed competition. The prize is publication and a year's subscription. (We're not in Ireland - hopefully that will be next year's big trip.)

For those who were wondering, the weird things in the phot on my last post were the 'knees' of swamp cypress trees. They're protrusions from the roots and, as far as I can tell, nobody is exactly sure about their purpose.

Thanks Patsy, I see that a years subscription to the magazine is the prize for winner in Irish Country magazine competition, it used to be a posh afternoon tea in a Dublin hotel! Must be getting plenty of entries.
That's interesting re the swamp cypress, thought it was tree roots myself.
Enjoy your travels & writing opportunities, Patsy. It's a brilliant way to avoid wasting valuable writing time getting caught up in domestic stuff (sadly have to devote today to same!!)

Many thanks for all your contributions and advice. Just spotted the Best Halloween Competition. Just a quick question - does anyone know if Best accept more than one Entry for their competitions? Many thanks. Have a lovely travel fest Patsy! Good wishes to all. Kate Hogan.

I think it's one entry per writer for the best mag competition. But I could be wrong. Does it state it in the T&C's?

Thanks Sharon. I can't see anything in the T&Cs. All good wishes Kate

I also think it’s one entry per person, but I didn’t keep my copy of the magazine,

Happy travelling Patsy!
Re the Best competition, I’ve just looked on Readly and it is one entry per person.
“Only one competition entry, fulfilling the eligibility requirements above, will be accepted per person.” Good luck anyone who’s entering!

Thanks for the comments, everyone! We've been to some great places already, had poltergeist in the van's wiring and had that exorcised (well, the man who came to make it safe and so we could continue said it was something technical sounding, and that he'd deactivated the offending item, but with the strange noises and flickering lights, it didn't feel technical) met up with friends and had to revise our plans a bit, due to one of Gary's work assignments. .

I thought it was only one entry for Best, but wasn't certain, so thank you for confirming that, Fiona.

Funny Patsy had something similar happen with my car this week just as I was about to set off to meet up with some friends an hours drive away. Lots of scary messages flashing up and some loss of power but when the mechanic put it through diagnostics he could find nothing wrong so he deactivated it & said 'drive on (macduff)' or words to that effect.
