After years of knowng her virtually, it was great to meet Alyson Hilbourne in person recently. If you read women's magazines you're very likely to be familiar with Alyson's lovely stories, and unless you're very new to this blog you'll know she often contributes links to competitions and comments as Ados123.
We had an informative guided tour around our meeting place. I wonder which of us will be the first to feature an archeologist in a story?
(This might be a slightly easier 'guess where we are' challenge - but only if you concentrate on the top image. The others are random places we stopped on the way.)
Don't panic - contributing to this blog doesn't automatically mean I'll be heading off in your direction demanding a chat and cup of tea!

That's awesome you got to meet her!
Where are you? Old Sarum?
Lovely pics, I'm at a disadvantage I've no idea where they were taken but they are lovely.
Also lovely to see Alyson featuring today I've read & enjoyed many of Allyson's stories over the years.
Thanks to everyone who provided details of various competitions maybe I will try something

Well, that's lovely! It's wonderful to hear that you and Alyson were finally able to meet in person. You clearly had fun. I have no idea where the photos were taken, although admittedly, I didn't take a very close look.
As always, thank you for the writing news/updates and I'm not concerned that by commenting on this blog, you will take it as an invitation to head my way, demanding a cuppa. Having said that, if your travels ever take you to the Bournemouth/Poole area, then I would certainly be up for a warming beverage and a chat in a cosy cafe - especially as Autumn takes hold. That goes for everyone. I do wonder how many contributors to this blog live in my vicinity.
I have nothing to report other than submitting a couple of stories to Andrew Shaw.
Thank you to all those who have contributed writing news, congrats to those with successes and the best of luck to all those who are currently submitting. Happy writing and Happy October!
Great to finally meet you, Patsy. Hope you and Gary weren't blown away in the van last night. It was pretty windy here. Off to sweep up leaves and collect windfalls now.
Thanks for the comps. Where is the windmill?
Alyson
Hi Patsy
Lovely to hear you met up with Alyson.
Hadrian's Wall?
Thanks for the comps.
HB
I like this game - Where is Patsy…?!
Top photo – as Alyson mentioned windy weather, (and the north have received the brunt of it) and you also mentioned archaeology, I wonder if the top photo is of Vindolanda?
How lovely that you managed to meet up.
Very interesting mix of competitions – thank you.
Dee
How nice that you and Alyson were able to meet up.
Sorry but I've scored zero, but still some lovely venues to spark story ideas. Thank you for the comps. Yes, hope the wind has not been too violent, wherever you are, Patsy.
Lovely photos Patsy and so nice you and Alyson were able to meet up. I met up with a writer friend during the week for coffee and it's great to blether to someone who has that same interest. Thanks also for comps. I hopefully have a PN out this week but I may have got the date wrong so it will be a surprise either way ;)
It's lovely to see you together, Alyson and Patsy, and makes me think it would be great to have a womagwriters' mass meet-up one day!
How lovely to see two Womagwriters together. I totally agree with Eirin about a mass gathering!
@ Alex - Yes, it was nice.
We met at Birdoswald - one of the forts along Hadrian's Wall. It's sort of the old Roman boundary between England and Scotland.
@ Sheelagh – The photos were taken at Hadrian's Wall, Birkenhead Friary, an old windmill on the Wirral, Heysham harbour, and Sizergh Castle.
@ Ally – Poole is somewhere we go from time to time! I'll try to remember to say next time we're in that area.
@ Alyson – Likewise!
We've had some lively weather, but were able to find sheltered places to stay, so it's been fine.
The windmill was at Bidston Hill, on the Wirral.
@ HB - Yep! Birdoswald to be precise.
@ Dee - Oh, very close and the wall looks very similar for most of the way, so I think you get the points.
The game may well continue...
@ Liz - It was indeed.
@ Marguerite - The wind was energetic, but we had shelter.
@ Elizabeth - It is nice to chat to someone else who knows what it's like. Well done with the PN whenever it hits the shelves.
@ Eirin - That would be lovely if we could arrange something.
@ Marian - I'm always happy to meet with fellow womagwriters - the more the merrier!
A get-together could be fun! Thanks for the competition info. I might have a go at the Curtis Brown one - a bit ambitious, but nothing ventured....
