The People's Friend are running a serial writing competition. As well as the usual fee for publication, the winner will get £400 (plus loads of kudos from me! I've yet to crack either serial writing or The Friend) More details will be on their website and in the magazine on 12,22 and 29th of this month.
Thanks to Kathy Schilbach for passing on the details.
I don't have any pictures of The People's Friend, but a nice tranquil view of Scotlad seemed appropriate.

Oh, interesting. I write for PF but haven't done a serial - more than 3000 words and I get into a mess - but I'd like to try. Do you know the closing date, Patsy?

Now that sounds like a great challenge - though I'm not sure I'm ready for it!
Great - Thank you Patsy! I`ve surrendered on stories for now and am footling about on features, but a Serial sounds a hugely exciting new direction!
I have received my advance copy of 15 August edition. Closing date is 30 October. 3 part serial is wanted, 6k, then 5k, 5k. Submit 1,500 word synopsis with first instalment. Must have a coupon from the magazine (photocopies not accepted). Open to all apart from previously published PF serial writers. (ie short story only published writers can still enter). Good luck to those who do enter. Not sure I could sustain a story of that length, so I'll stick with shorts and features for now.
Thanks, Beatrice. I shall have a look at that.

Yes, thanks Beatrice for those handy details.
Shame I can't enter, having already written two serials for them, but I would encourage everyone to enter.
@ Beatrice - thank you for supplying the missing info!
@ ados, Rosemary and Dolores - yes a challenge, but a worthwhile one, I think.
@ Wendy - I imagine that most entrants will be glad they're not competing against you! ;-)
Thank you for the heads up Patsy. Like you, I've yet to crack The Friend so it'll be interesting to have a go at this.

That's worth a try, and yes glad Wendy isn't having a go:@/)
@ Francesca and Niddy - good luck!
