Oh well, I've done my best and put it all on a new page which you can find here. I hope it's useful. As always I appreciate your comments letting me know when posts are of interest, so I know which things are worth spending time on.
Something else you might find useful is this online workshop for creating and developing fiction writing ideas. This post wasn't written in the campervan. It's been a very long time since I've been able to properly use the mobile writing retreat. However the COVID restrictions ease tomorrow, so hopefully I'll soon be out and about writing in, and getting distracted by, scenic locations.
Not writing for womags at the moment but I like to keep up to date for future reference.
Very useful, Patsy. I kind of knew all this but good to have it all in one place. Thanks for the effort you put in.
Thanks for the update, Patsy. Much appreciated.
Thanks, Patsy, very useful. I knew most of these but there are some that I was not aware of, particularly the word count.
Thanks for the major update Patsy. It's good to have the current status in one post.
Thanks for everything you do to keep us all updated Patsy. Much appreciated.
Wow! This is fabulous, Patsy. What a lot of work you have put into it, all for your fellow writers. So kind of you. I have bookmarked it for future reference. Hope you will soon be able to get out and about in your camper van.
Thanks for all your work and efforts Patsy
Thanks Patsy for taking the time to pull all of these guidelines together, it is very much appreciated.
Hope it won't be too much longer before you are back out and about in your campervan.
Thank you, Patsy. This is a really useful resource. Like so many other folks, I am very grateful for all your hard work in keeping this blog up to date and relevant.
I can only echo what everyone has said above. Really useful to have a comprehensive list - thank you, Patsy :)
Much appreciated, Patsy, thank you.
Thanks for this, Patsy - it's great.
Thank you, Patsy. Very much appreciated. Hopefully one day I'll have a second Womag story published!
Thanks, Patsy, this is incredibly helpful.
Thanks for the updates, Patsy - really helpful.
I'd like to add my thanks to all the above. I'm just wondering how long the blog has been going and how long you've been running it, Patsy. I reckon I discovered it about three or four years ago, and it was like finding buried treasure! I can't remember what led me here but I'm so glad something did.
Excellent, thanks for this, Patsy. Much appreciated.
Hope the weather warms up a bit for resuming your campervan travels! Thanks for the post. Things do feel a bit slow at present, understandable while most still working from home, I imagine.
Thank you Patsy, really helpful to a novice like me. I had no idea about alcs either. I have joined but it won t accept any isbn numbers I try fro Peoples friend. If I do a search for 'The Peoples Friend or Peoples Friend it just says there is no publication listed. Any help appreciated! Thanks
Thank you, Patsy. You're very generous with your time and energy. You definitely deserve a trip away in the campervan.
Thank you, also, for the NWS events link. There are a couple of workshops that appeal to me - but, I must confess that it's the Zoom element making me hesitate. The sight of me on screen does nothing to support my delusional state. My limited Zoom experiences present a crazy woman who is unable to sit in one place and not fidget for even ten minutes. This might explain the number of unfinished things around my house. Also, the pile of cans and tubes as I search for the hair-styling equivalent of 'behave yourself'. What a mess of anxiety - yet, I don't suppose I'm the only one lacking a makeup artist and a team of lighting technicians, lol. Not sure what they could do about the sitting still bit. That might be a lost cause. I admire you enormously for presenting the workshop and I hope that it goes well.
Thanks everyone for your comments! It's really helpful to know what people find useful.
@ Eirin – The womagwriter blog has been going a long time, but I can't take credit for starting it. Kath McGurl was the original Womagwriter. When her novel writing career took off she didn't have the time to do everything needed to keep the blog up to date. I took over in 2015.
@ Chris – Try 02622386 Adding ISSNs to my database might be useful, but I don't have the time or strength for it right now. I'll addd it to the list!
@ Bendywriter – Currently I can't get all my hair on, even when it's just me on full screen!
If you don't want to use the video option you can attend Zoom meetings without – you can either upload a photo of yourself or just have your name appear. In my workshop it won't matter though as everyone will be too busy writing to look at the other participants!
That's fabulous, Patsy. Thanks for all the hard work.
Brilliant, Patsy. It's where I go first to check guidelines.
Exactly what I've been looking for advice on how to submit, as I'm a newbie!
Great to have this info updated. It is so accessible and useful. Thankyou.
