Re the details of the Best pet fiction competition, do they take all rights?
I have bought the mag and studied the (very) small print and there is nothing about 'rights' but rather a lot of general T & C's which might allow this. Do Hearst usually take all rights do you know please?
Hi Patsy that's really helpful - I'll see if one of my stories could be a good fit. The pic cut off the info about how they want this formatted. Do you know what they want? Many thanks.
There is nothing mentioned about formatting. Just guessing but a lot of entrants will probably be readers who have never entered a comp before and know nothing about formatting, double spacing etc anyway so I imagine that our own standard formatting will be perfectly acceptable and welcome - although I stand to be corrected by Patsy!
Re: rights. If this helps - I was lucky enough to win the Best competition in the summer of 2021 and when I asked about copyright they assured me that the copyright to my story was mine. Obviously I can't say for sure that is still the case, but it certainly was then.
Thank you very much for the info and many many congratulations on winning this comp in 2021. I am quite sure luck had nothing to do with it, you sent in the best entry. How wonderful is that?
Just send mine in with my fingers crossed! Good luck to us all who have entered.

@ Sue – I can't see anything about rights either - they can't take them if that's not in the rules.
Thank you very much for the information, Patsy.

re formatting – I believe they mean entries must be submitted by email, to the address given - not sent by post or added on social media.

Thanks for the suggestions about the formatting requirement - now to get on and write that story!
Hi!
Is this for UK and Ireland recidents only? I need more information, but can't find it online. And the screenshot doesn't show the rules, etc.
Thank you in advance,
Becks
@ Becks think it's for UK residents only so doesn't include Rep. of Ireland either
