A littlun

Sorry, not much for you this week. Just a little competition and a small, but vitally important, example of British wildlife. I've been busy with 'stuff'. I expect you all know how much time 'stuff' takes up.

Free entry writing competition

Thanks to Fiona for telling me about The Welkin Mini. They want creative non-fiction of up to 100 words and offer a £50 prize.

Note – I've been contacted to say that comments aren't posting. Sorry about that. I don't know what the issue is, as I've not changed anything. Hopefully it's just a temporary glitch.

Thanks for the competition, Patsy and Fiona. I'll give it some thought but probably not for me after reading last years winners. Just testing to see if this does actually post!

Thank you, Fiona and Patsy. Shouldn't be difficult, 'just' 100 words, but not so easy, eh? I'll have a go.

Thank you for the update, Patsy. I do understand about ‘stuff’ - I’ve had a lot lately too, which is why I’m only just commenting on this and the last post, which I found really helpful.

I think I’ll try the 100 words - I must have time for that!

I've just entered the Welkin Mini. I like the way you can try again if you get a rejection!
I can post on here using my phone, but not my laptop. Curious...

Thank you Patsy and everyone who has commented on this blog throughout the year for generously sharing your thoughts, experiences and information. Like many of you I've found it a challenging year writing-wise although I have had my first acceptance from Woman's Weekly with my story due for publication in January. It feels like a time to think about making changes and funnily enough, that's the theme of a competition that's just landed in my inbox from the Writers Online newsletter. It's called New Year, New You and is free to enter. You just have to register with the website if you haven't already done so. They say: To get your new year off to a flying start, you could win a cash prize and publication by entering stories up to 800 words about someone who resolves to make a change in the year ahead. Closing date 28th February 2025 and there's one prize of £150 plus publication online. The website is: https://www.writers-online.co.uk/writing-competitions/free-to-enter-new-year-new-you/
