Boo!

I'll be at The Watershed in Bristol today, taking part in a book busk. For that I'll be reading some of my short stories at approx 1pm. If you're in the area, do come and say hello. I'll be wearing purple, so should be easy to spot.

Do you like reading and writing ghost stories?

I do. I don't mind if the ghost is 'real' or there turns out to be an alternative rational ending for the apparent spooky goings on, but I don't like the stories to be too scary. (If you feel the same way, you might enjoy this collection of 25 short stories.)

Do you believe in ghosts? And do you think a belief, or lack of it, makes any difference to your enjoyment of this genre?

Hi Patsy, in answer to this post, I absolutely LOVE ghost stories. In fact, out of the 13 short stories I've had published in magazines, 11 of them have been ghost stories. I'm not an absolute believer in ghosts, however I do have an open mind to the subject and I've had some very strange experiences with my four year old son who regularly says an elderly lady has visited him at night and asked for a cuddle then wished him 'goodnight'. This first happened when he was only two and then he pointed out my late grandmother from a photo and said 'that's the lady who wanted a cuddle'. This experience has inspired two of my ghost stories published by TAB FF. I will definitely be taking a look at your collection of ghost stories. All the best xxx

I can't talk about ghosts too much, because it will affect my sleep for a week. That said, it naturally affects my husband's sleep as well. Let me just say, he's not crazy about my scared-of-the-dark, please-walk-me-to-the-bathroom nights.
Sure wish I could be there to hear you read, but since I can't, I'll pass the word along and share your post on Facebook.
:-)

@ Lisa - I'm not totally convinced about ghosts either, but there are definitely things which are hard to explain without accepting they could be real.

@ Debi - If there are ghosts, I don't think there's any reason to suppose they'll be unfriendly ... does that help at all?
