NaNo

I'm doing NaNo this year. For those who've yet to come across it, this is an annual challenge to complete a 50,000 word draft of a novel during November. I've taken part before - usually 'cheating' by writing short stories.

50, 000 words is the word count for My Weekly pocket novels and I fancy seeing if I can write one of those, so I'll be creating my cosy crime draft with their guidelines in mind.

Are you going to join NaNO? Attempt a pocket novel?  Do both at once?

Good luck. I'm not organized or brave enough to attempt it this year!

Hi Patsy, Sounds like a plan!
Not taking part this year, but I am rewriting a NaNo novel and hope to get a lot done in November.
Good luck, and no cheating!

Dear Tosh,
No bloomin' way am I doing that tyrannical (but fantastic butt-kickin') exercise ever again! I completed it last year in 23 days on a 'no real plans just forge a novel as you go along' method and haven't looked at the result since! But it's there, my 50,000 word 'novel'with all its plots and stories stolen from my Life in a Small Rural Community Casualty Department.
Now you are a farmer's girl and now a Phot's Moll so you'll have LOADS of snippets you can tack together if you have not organised a 'proper plan'
The Very Best of Luck to you. And to anyone else who attempts it.
I'll be back to check on progress!

That sounds like a great plan.

I have no idea what use my story will be once it's finished but I'll worry about that when and if it happens!

It won't turn into a novel though, I'm pretty sure about that.

Best of luck to you, Patsy. Have done this about half a dozen times in the past, and it was great fun! But... not this time.

Great to know you’ll be writing alongside us for NaNo. It’s my second attempt and I intend to write the same story I did last year again, only with a year’s writing knowledge and experience now added. I love writing and I love a challenge. Good luck with your pocket novel.

I've only ever done it one year some time ago, Patsy, and found it worked very well. Can't commit the same time to it at the moment. Good luck with your project - sounds a good idea!
