There's still time to enter Anansi's summer competition. They're offering small cash prizes and publication for poetry, short stories and flash fiction. I'm sure I must have something I could send.
The Blackness on Sea poetry competition, which has a large cash prize. £1,000! Poetry is very much not my strong point, but I'm trying to come up with something.
The Perito prize. The writer of the best piece on accessibility and inclusion will get £500. I've already entered that one.
The Orna Ross Green Stories novel prize. This one has cash prizes of £1000 and £500, plus help with getting published. I've written a novel which I think might suit the theme, but as I've already published it, I can't send it in.
The L Ron Hubbard writers of the future competition offers $1,000 to the winner each quarter and accepts several different genres – none of which I write.
My news
This small collection of my short stories is available to download free from Amazon, and some other retailers, such as Smashwords. That might only be news to newer readers of this blog, but I'm too busy drooling over the illustration for my story in the My Weekly Special to think of anything else!

Gosh what a brilliant mix of competitions Patsy - something for everyone. I just looked at the Blackness-on-Sea one and see that all entries are published on their website. Quite a mix of styles.
Will definitely have a go at a couple of the competitions now it’s almost time for me to get back to normal life after the Commonwealth Games - too much of a distraction and so many sports to choose from on iPlayer!

I've considered the Writers of the Future but I've not written many short stories. My books are short, but not that short!

Thank you for this mix, Patsy. I have already done the long and shorter for Anansi and had a Globe Soup email today for the 500 word challenge. I'll save the cake until it's a bit cooler ;) Now I come to think of it, a bit hot for soup.
Just to let you know, Patsy, email shot (or however it's done?) - last one I had was "Cut-off period" 23/7? They might not be getting thrrough to people?

No - it's your emails - email alerts for this blog- aren't getting through??? The last one I received from you was titled: Cut-off period. Sorry I wasn't clear. I just wondered if anyone else had that or if I need to re-subscribe???

Funny I'm just reading above about notification emails for blog updates, I never actually received any of those. If you're updating your list Patsy you might add me to it thanks. & if you're not no worries as I have been doing it the manual way anyway with great success anyway.
